It's hard out here for a pimp.

While this may be true in some locales, its most certainly much harder for any lady friend of a pimp. Especially one who wishes to disassociate herself with said pimp. As evidence, I present the following tale of former "rap star" Foxy Brown:

Rapper Foxy Brown has denied reports that she was assaulted by four women in a Brooklyn housing project early Saturday morning (June 23). According to police, Brown was involved in an argument with her unidentified boyfriend around 5:30 am in the Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York. Brown was allegedly attempting to dump the man, after she found out he was a pimp with a criminal record. The man called four prostitutes, who allegedly attacked Brown, ripped out her hairweave, stole her hearing aide, her purse and $500 dollars.

Wow, just wow. Was it really neccessary to steal her hearing aide? On the other hand, this man's pimp hand must be pretty strong if he can get four prositutes to show up and "take care of his light work" in such a expeditious manner. I can't get four prostitutes anywhere at the same time without a tranquilizer gun. I'd like to feel bad for Foxy here, really I would, but she kind of had it coming when she stole her name from Pam Grier.

Because they're quick and to the point or because they're based on ridiculous/surreal events? Probably both, I'm guessing.

I've gathered some empirical evidence which clearly demonstrates that pimpin' is in fact, extremely easy.

A little of column A...a half-dozen of the other.

I'll have to give Big Daddy Kane a call. Maybe we can set up some sort of Pimping Symposium where the two of you can compare your various academic studies.

cnnsi has the Magicians taking Ali Traore in the second round. From what I read, it's not a bad pick. I forget who they're supposed to get with their second second round pick but I hope they pick up DJ Strawberry. Mostly because he looks like the Simpsons cartoon version of his dad.

I'm going to list some guys I'd like to see the Magic take in round 2 tomorrow. Traore is one of them. Apparently he's already got an NBA body and alot of offensive skill in the post. He dominated inside at the EuroCamp last month. On the downside, I've read that he's not a very good rebounder. Not due to a lack of athleticism but rather a lack of desire, willingness or whatever. Maybe he can be a Chris Gatling type seocnd unit scorer. I would enjoy that. (He's probably hanging in Europe for at least another year though.)

Strawberry will end up having a nice career in the NBA due to his defensive ability. He's big enough to guard 2s and quick enough to guard 1s.

There's another unspoken draft rule that I think could apply equally for the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, (whatever) which is: in the later rounds, when you're picking a guy who probably won't make the team anyway, (unless there's a guy with a legitimate shot), take the best player available with some sort of local roots (high school, college, junior high..anything). It's a small favor to the fans and something to give the local media a little more to talk about.

If he makes the team, great--that might sell a dozen extra season tickets. If not, well most guys drafted then are camp fodder anyway.

I agree, to a point. I think you always go with a young Euro late in the 2nd round these days in the NBA draft if you don't have a guy who you think can make your team available. The young euro could develop into a player down the road (Oberto, Herrman, Ginobilli, etc.) and you don't take a cap hit.

Mark, I know you hate the Spurs, but they have become the king of the "draft a Euro in the second round and let him sit there for a few years." And frankly, it seems to be working quite well for them.

So, who fucks up tonight's draft more, the Hawks or the Celtics?

I do hate the Spurs but there's no denying that they are a model organization from a front office perspective. They're extremely organized and forward thinking.

As for tonight, I think it's Atlanta if the trade with Phoenix doesn't go down. I could see Billy Knight taking Yi. Seriously.
